    The Sunscreen Product Minefield

    By |March 16th, 2022|Categories: Family Health|Tags: , |

Zealous advertisers advocate sunscreen products with sun protection factors (SPFs) ranging from 15 to 100+. But how much of this is scientifically validated, and how much is spin-doctoring taking advantage of fearful and gullible consumers? Snoring and the Consequences

    By |December 8th, 2021|Categories: Family Health|Tags: , |

Snoring must be one of the most democratic activities on earth, and it allows for absolute freedom of expression. The techniques manifested are varied and creative, from gentle, reassuring barely-there buzzing to high whistles and low growling, or the unrelenting droning of a chain saw. It can be a very touchy subject – those who snore often deny it, and those on the receiving end sometimes feel victimised or harassed by it.

Male Menopause – fact or fiction?

    By |August 10th, 2021|Categories: Family Health|Tags: , , , |

Male behaviour is to a large extent driven by testosterone. It’s therefore logical that the age-related decline in testosterone levels with age will bring about corresponding symptoms. However, the concept of male menopause is rarely considered as a potential cause of the physical and psychological changes that occur in men as they age.
