Editor's Letter
Step into 2024 with full responsibility for your own health
I really do hope this letter finds you well-rested, healthy, and energized. If not, let's explore ways to improve that.
A South African sun-filled holiday may not only leave you with a beautiful tan, but also toxic and tired. In addition to over indulgence (your poor liver), think about what you lather onto dry warm skin. The skin is permeable and absorbs an average of 64% of EVERYTHING we put on it. The toxins you expose your body to can potentially cause low energy levels and hormone disruption, which can certainly affect overall health.
We recommend using products that are certified organic and cold pressed oils like grapeseed or olive oil. See and feel the difference in both your body and your mind. Nourishing your skin with vitamin- and mineral-rich plant extracts is going to have a much more positive effect on mood than petrochemicals and parabens! This applies to sunscreen products as well as after-sun lotions, potions and sprays. For skin rescue advice, read Post-sun Skin Savers.
See my detox article New Year New You where I share how to cleanse with bentonite clay, make a liver flush tea and your own potassium broth along with Dr Sandi’s 4-week Detox Plan and a Detox Drink by Sally-Ann Creed. Strive to use organic ingredients for any detox program and do not underestimate the harmful effects of pesticides.
